papirazzi > an electron micrograph of poly ADP-ribose,(PAR), the "magic" molecule synthesized by PARP-1 in response to DNA damage. Damage detection, damage signalling to the cell and local recruitment of DNA repair enzymes to the damage site : all things that kept us busy for a while. papirazzi > At the cellular level: DNA damage is induced here by a laser microbeam irradiation of cultured cells :the signalling / recruitment function of poly (ADP-ribose) (PAR) that is immunostained in red here. Cell nuclei are stained in blue (Dapi staining). Their diameter is about 10 microns.
